In Memory of Neal Stoddard

Our friend, Neal, lost his battle with cancer yesterday at 5 p.m.   He had 9 radiation treatments, but was too weak to go for the 10th treatment. After a week of not being able to take nourishment, he passed away quietly at Mt. St. Vincent Nursing Home in West Seattle.
As Andy Newing commented, now Pete will have someone in heaven to help organize the officials.
As soon as Neal’s brother and nephews arrange a service, Carole will let you know the location and date.  She will send out a notice to the officials email list.

Hi Everyone,

Our friend, Neal, lost his battle with cancer today at 5 p.m.   He had 9 radiation treatments, but was too weak to go for the 10th treatment.  After a week of not being able to take nourishment, he passed away quietly at Mt. St. Vincent Nursing Home in West Seattle.  As soon as Neal’s brother and nephews arrange a service, I will let you know the location and date.  I will send out a notice to the officials listserve then too.

Sadly,

Carole

As Neal is escorted to his prime seat in Heaven’s track and field stadium, may he look down on his life well lived.  He was the friendliest person who was interested in all aspects of a life.  He wasn’t an elite runner, but he ran for the love of running.  No matter where he finished, he was positive about his next race.  He was a loyal official working all levels of the sports, not only choosing the high-level elite meets but could most often be seen at the junior Olympics and masters meets, road runs and MUT events volunteering hours and hours for others to learn and enjoy track and field.  Neal had an intrinsic interest in life.  He traveled to distant places to learn history, or some sports events to enjoy the thrill of the game, or scenic wonders to be inspired.  He could also give in-depth reports upon his return and after listening you would almost believe you had been right there with him.  Neal was a dear friend to all of us.  I will miss him.

Neal will be missed.  Neal and Dad can now get the officials organized in heaven.
